eBay to Increase Fees for Private " Buy It Now ' Listings

eBay is introducing a flat 10% fee for private vendors, their " Buy It Now" fixed price quotes from next month.

The changes will affect users trying to sell all items except mobile phones sold under contract, automobiles and real estate.

The new fees will be limited to 40 pounds and is on 21 July will be introduced.

The auction site says the changes do not professionally on small to medium businesses or entrepreneurs trading.

An eBay spokesman said: " We want our customers a range of great value prices which is why both eBay auctions and fixed price ( or buy it now) sales are an integral part of eBay's business.

" [ These changes] is the work of the costs of selling on eBay much easier down the line, and still very competitive compared to other marketplaces.

" It has no effect on the 180,000 small and medium enterprises ( SMEs ) and entrepreneurs to trade professionally eBay.co.uk, as they are legally required to be registered as a company and benefit from lower total cost of selling fees as a result.

" This means that our business will continue to be seller to pass on attractive offers to customers. "

eBay was founded in 1995 and allows anyone to sell goods online or at a fixed price in an auction lasting a certain number of days.
