Consumers of all the different claims are confused about 4G speed soon get help cut through marketing hype and disorder through a bill that information out of the country would argue the cell phone carrier.
Has the same time as the President himself the goal to bring wireless service provider to at least 98 percent of Americans within five years (why not go for 100 percent, Obama?), Dignity of the 11-sided-Next Generation Wireless Disclosure Act to make mobile operators to explain how quickly 4G really is to make informed decisions.
Democrat Anna G. Eshoo represented Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, who sits on the U.S. House of Representatives' Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, the bill announced as a way to give consumers the straight scoop on rates, hidden costs, price and volume of data sent and received, and whether it's worth, before signing or switch plans in the Congressman's Official Announcement, the reasoning goes as follows.:
As more and more consumers are using their smart phones, tablets and other wireless devices that use video and other data intensive applications and services that really matters for speed stream. Americans on the latest generation of advanced wireless broadband forward, commonly called "4G", but without a uniform definition of the technology, consumers often experience very different rates depending on the cellular provider and location. This law aims to ensure that consumers complete and accurate information about the speed have the 4G service, before they make a plan. The bill also helps consumers understand the reliability of the network, coverage and pricing.
The law itself, Eshoo goes to the lack of coherence between mobile operators:
The four largest wireless carriers advertise 4G mobile broadband services across different wireless technologies, including LTE (Long Term Evolution), WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) and HSPA (Evolved High Speed Packet Access). Although the International Telecommunication Union has expanded its definition of 4G services, these technologies, theoretical peak speeds and actual speeds vary among experienced consumers of technology and service providers.
Whether you actually take the time to read it, the legislation would provide consumers with the following information to the point of sale materials and in all accounting:
Guaranteed minimum data speed rates
Network Reliability
Coverage area maps
Pricing
Technology used to deliver 4G services
Network conditions, the speed of applications and services used in the network can affect
Praised for its intent, transparency and accuracy in reporting is Eshoo's proposal with endorsements by several consumer groups, including Consumers Union and Public Knowledge.
